Summer Tutoring at Tampa Day School

At Tampa Day School, we’ve been providing tutoring for students since 1969. Whether your child needs to catch up or get ahead for the fall semester our highly experienced teaching staff are available all summer long with flexible hours that can fit into your summer plans. This is not your “one size fits all” tutoring, but customized so your child can return to school in the fall feeling more competent and confident!

Dates and Times

Our tutoring center is open June 18–August 4, 2012, Mondays–Thursdays. One-hour sessions can be scheduled between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Program Offerings

Developmental Writing
Does your child’s mind go “blank” when given a writing assignment? Does he have great thoughts in his head, but just can’t seem to get them down on paper? Let us provide him with strategies, graphic organizers, and tips that will help him with content, organization and editing that will take the “dread” out of writing assignments throughout the year! (1:1 sessions or small group for 6th - 8th)

Summer Reading Assignment
Are you tired of fighting with your child all summer long to complete his summer reading assignment from school? We have a better plan for you this summer! Get a small group of his classmates (makes it more fun!) together and schedule time with our tutors to help them read, discuss the book, and complete those assignments. We’ll even provide individual phone or text message encouragement between sessions!

Reading
Does your child avoid long reading assignments or get frustrated when reading? Does he need targeted skills and practice in word attack, fluency or comprehension? Then we are the reading experts at Tampa Day School, and we would love to have your child benefit by working on those skills during the summer with our highly trained reading specialists. We want your child to love reading: it’s our passion!!! (for dyslexia or major reading difficulties, consider our intensive reading program).

Math
Does your child struggle learning particular math concepts (fractions, decimals, etc), have difficulty when solving word problems, or still just need more help memorizing basic facts? We’ll assess his individual needs, and then address those needs by providing him with targeted skill practice, and research-based strategies and tools that he can use in the future.
