Intensive Reading Program (1-on-1)Once your child’s specific reading and spelling needs have been identified through our assessment process, an individual plan tailored to those needs is designed. The individual program may include strategies to improve phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, reading fluency, reading accuracy, reading comprehension and writing. What is the Intensive Reading Program?We are pleased to be Tampa Bay’s primary resource for an intensive, one-to-one instructional reading program for the last 11 years. Our program incorporates a nationally recognized reading program and a variety of research-based techniques used to improve all aspects of reading and spelling. Furthermore, this effective intervention is taught by our highly-skilled Reading Clinicians who receive training and support throughout the entire school year. This program has been used successfully for more than 30 years to teach reading to children who have not succeeded with traditional instructional approaches. How does it Work?The program differs from traditional approaches by integrating the senses of hearing, seeing and feeling to promote reading development. Children receive four hours of individual instruction each day, five days a week, for a minimum of five weeks. Detailed lesson plans are written every week and a log of every session is recorded. You may also observe your child’s sessions at any time. When is it Offered?Dates: June 15- July 17, 2009 **Most students attend the entire five-week session. However, based on program availability, a two-hour session might be better suited for younger students.
What is the cost? Five-week program: $7,200.00Included in the Cost: A $500.00 deposit is due in advance. The remaining balance is due in-full on
Registration for the intense summer reading intervention program begins on Monday, March 9, 2009, and must include the $500.00 deposit. Deposit fees will be returned if your child is not accepted into the program. Acceptance of registration materials does not guarantee enrollment in the program. Students must meet minimum admissions criteria to be considered for the full-time program and space is limited.

If current cognitive and achievement testing is available, please submit along with registration.
