A College-Prep School for Students With Learning Differences
Tampa Day School is a premier school for learning differences for children in grades 2-8. Foundational to over four decades of success is the school’s practice of understanding individual needs, honoring each child’s unique strengths, and maximizing the potential of children who struggle in more traditional learning environments.
Tampa Day Student Profile
At Tampa Day, we recognize that each student has strengths, talents, and intelligence, but also has unique challenges they face along their academic journey. Our school is designed to serve students with the following strengths and mild learning disabilities:
- Students with average or above average cognitive abilities, and without major behavioral disorders or significant communication disorders
- Students with ADD and ADHD
- Students with Dyslexia
- Students who experience stress or anxiety in traditional classrooms
- Students who are struggling with low self-esteem or underachievement
Engagement and Achievement
Students with learning differences thrive with Tampa Day School’s personalized approach. We use research-based strategies to maximize achievement and engagement, and help children grow in confidence so they learn to love school again. Students benefit from small class sizes and a daily homework lab immediately after school helps eliminate homework hassles at home.
Our college-prep curriculum challenges students to realize their full potential and encompasses all of the core academic subjects as well as physical education, art, music, technology, and drama. Technology is integrated at each grade level, and throughout the school there are relevant field trips and hands-on activities designed to capture student interest and enrich the learning experience.
